Afternoon Household Assistant on Mercer Island (20 hrs per week) Placement
Mercer Island, WA
Part Time
Housekeeping
Entry Level
Jovie
Bellevue, WA, USA
Summary:
A bit about us: A great opportunity for someone looking to transition from childcare into household management! We’re a kind, open-minded family on Mercer Island seeking a reliable and proactive Household Assistant to support our home in the late afternoons and early evenings. While we do have two young children, this is not a childcare role, your responsibilities will focus on household tasks like tidying, laundry, and light meal prep. Interactions with the children will be minimal and typically limited to transition moments (like saying hello or sitting with them briefly while a parent finishes up a task).
Our household includes two dogs and two cats, so a love of animals is important. We live an active lifestyle and spend lots of time outdoors and in the garden, so we’d love to welcome a calm, capable presence who can help keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
A bit about you: You’re a detail-oriented and proactive Family Assistant who finds satisfaction in keeping a household organized and running smoothly. You’re confident managing tasks, able to follow directions with positivity and enthusiasm, you love pets, and know your way around a kitchen and laundry room. You understand the value of stepping in with enthusiasm, professionalism, and discretion, and you bring a positive, steady energy to your work. Ideally, you’ve worked in a similar role and feel comfortable balancing tidying, meal prep, and pet care with the occasional interaction with children.
Job Duties: This role focuses on household support. Following family instructions and helping with household tasks such as light meal prep (chopping, marinating, etc.), kitchen upkeep (dishes, counters, and floors), family laundry (wash, dry, fold, and put away), and general tidying of common areas. Additional tasks include feeding pets, letting the dogs out, assisting with house training, and maintaining pet areas. Occasional light organizational tasks like preparing school lunches or tidying toys may come up. While child care is not the focus, the assistant may occasionally engage with the children (e.g., reading or sitting with them briefly during transition times).
Start Date: As soon as the right fit candidate can start!
Location: Mercer Island, 98040
Position Highlights: Guaranteed hours. Paid sick time accrual. Holidays. Mileage reimbursement if driving is required. Long-term, multi-year potential. Open to discussing additional benefits for the right fit.
Qualifications:
Set yourself apart: Bonus points if you’re bilingual, enjoy light organizing projects, or bring an eye for efficiency to your work. If you genuinely enjoy creating a sense of calm and order in a busy family home, you’ll be a great fit here.
Schedule: M/W/Th 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm, and Tu/F 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Pay: $30-40/hr, depending on experience
**All applicants must first interview with a Jovie specialist. Qualifying applicants will meet the family prior to being hired.
*Please note that during this time of COVID-19, Jovie expects all employees to follow CDC guidelines and ensure best hygiene practices when working and in their personal time. This family is following these recommended guidelines cautiously and conservatively and expect the caregiver to do the same to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible.
