Paid Internship Opportunity: Special Needs Respite Care

We are seeking enthusiastic interns to join our respite team and work with multiple families! This part-time internship offers a rewarding experience where you can make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and teens with special needs. This internship can count for 2 or more academic units, requiring 108 worked hours per quarter.
As an approved respite provider for children with special needs, including autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy, we're looking for caregivers available for weekly placements and occasional "On Call" assignments throughout San Diego County.
What We Offer:
- Competitive pay of $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, with an additional $2 per hour for each additional child
- A supportive team atmosphere with training and engaged leadership

- Mentoring with the site supervisor to set and work towards learning objectives, SMART goals, which the internship instructor approves
- Regular check-ins with staff to support your growth and development
- Opportunity to stay on with our team after the internship ends, with a guaranteed pay increase
What We're Looking For:
- An engaging, creative, and child-focused individual eager to have fun, play, read, do arts and crafts, and participate in other activities in families' homes
- 2 years of childcare experience—paid or unpaid, like babysitting, volunteering, or caring for family
- Any special needs experience is a significant advantage, however, this does not need to be in a professional setting
- References can be from paid or unpaid childcare experiences
Schedule:
- Part-time or full-time hours available from 12 PM to 12 AM
- Flexible scheduling that can be adjusted to work with your classes
- Requires a total of 108 worked hours per quarter, suitable for academic credit
Requirements:
- Reliable and insured transportation to travel to various family homes
- A cell phone with data capability to accept and record assignments
