Whether you've worked as a nanny, babysitter, daycare teacher, preschool teacher, paraprofessional, camp counselor, or have other professional childcare experience, we'd love to meet you.
Pay: $20-$24/hour + $2/hour for each additional sibling in your care

What You'll Do
• Provide safe, compassionate, and engaging in-home care for children with special needs
• Create fun and age-appropriate activities, including crafts, games, reading, imaginative play, and outdoor activities
• Help children feel safe, supported, and comfortable through patience, consistency, and encouragement
• Support daily routines while maintaining a positive and structured environment
• Build meaningful relationships with children and families
• Communicate with parents and caregivers about each child's day and individual needs
• Provide respite support that gives families meaningful time to recharge while their children are in caring hands
Schedule
• Part-time and full-time opportunities available
• Flexible scheduling based on your availability
• Weekly placements with consistent families may be available
• Weekday afternoon and evening assignments, typically between 12 PM-8 PM
• Weekend assignments, typically between 8 AM-10 PM
• Occasional shifts with different families are also available
• Caregivers can self-select available assignments through the Jovie App
• Many assignments are approximately 4 hours, with opportunities to work additional shifts for more hours
You'll Be a Great Fit for This Job If You:
• Have at least 1 year of professional childcare experience
• Are compassionate, patient, dependable, and engaging
• Enjoy working with children of different ages and abilities
• Have experience supporting children with special needs, autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, or other support needs — a plus, but not required
• Enjoy creating fun, creative, and engaging experiences for children
• Communicate well with both children and parents
• Have reliable, insured transportation and a valid driver's license
• Have a cell phone with data to accept and record assignments
• Can provide childcare references from paid or unpaid childcare experiences
• Are at least 18 years old
Good to know: Experience may come from nannying, babysitting, daycare, preschool, after-school programs, camps, church nursery, special education settings, ABA, or other childcare environments. Volunteer experience working with children is also considered.
Special needs experience does not have to come from a formal job. Experience supporting a sibling, family friend, volunteer program, classroom, or community organization can also be valuable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need experience working with children with special needs?
No. While special needs experience is a plus, it is not required. We welcome caregivers with strong childcare experience who are patient, compassionate, dependable, and eager to learn.
Will I work with one family or multiple families?
Assignments vary depending on family needs, your availability, and scheduling preferences. Some caregivers work consistently with the same families, while others choose occasional assignments with different families.
What ages will I care for?
Assignments may include infants, toddlers, school-age children, and teens, depending on your experience and family needs.

What happens after I apply?
Our recruiting team will review your application and schedule an interview. After completing the required screening and reference checks, qualified candidates receive an offer to join the team. You'll then attend Orientation and Training on the Jovie Way before being matched with families that fit your experience and availability. Pay dates are every two weeks.
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds safely
• Frequently bend, squat, reach, push, and get up and down from the floor
• Participate in active indoor and outdoor play, weather permitting
• React quickly to changing situations
• Respond calmly, effectively, and safely to emergent situations
Working Environment
Jovie caregivers work in active, child-focused home environments. Care may include setting up and cleaning up activities, participating in active play, spending time outdoors when weather permits, and supporting children through their daily routines.
