Family Location: Minneapolis, MN
Summary:
A bit about us:
A busy single-parent household is seeking a dependable and proactive Family Assistant to support both teen care and household management. The position alternates weekly between family-focused support when the children are home and household organization when they are away. We’re a warm, active family with two great kids, a 16-year-old in 11th grade and a 13-year-old in 8th grade. Our home runs best with structure, communication, and a helping hand to keep things organized and flowing smoothly. When the kids are home, we focus on connection, school activities, and family time. When they’re away, the emphasis shifts toward maintaining and organizing the home so it’s ready for the next busy week.
A bit about you:
You’re reliable, organized, and proactive, someone who enjoys supporting both people and processes. You take initiative, communicate clearly, and are comfortable managing household tasks independently. You have experience working with teens and can provide a steady, friendly presence. You’re also safety-minded with reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
Job Duties:
Pick up the 16-year-old from school at 2:30 p.m. and manage after-school logistics for both children. Drive to and from activities, tutoring, and sports practices. Provide structure through snacks, homework support, and after-school coordination. Help with light household chores such as laundry, tidying shared areas, and basic organization. When the kids are away; manage household organization and upkeep, including: laundry and changing bed linens, organizing closets, pantry, and kids’ rooms, grocery shopping and restocking essentials, scheduling or coordinating home maintenance and appointments, managing mail, packages, and deliveries, cleaning and tidying kitchen and living areas, caring for three guinea pigs, including daily feeding, refilling water, and cleaning cages.
Position Highlights: Alternating schedule provides a balance between family engagement and independent household work. Opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping a busy family stay organized and supported. Family-oriented, respectful, and communicative environment.
Qualifications: Prior experience with teens preferred, reliable transportation and clean driving record (mileage reimbursed), highly organized, trustworthy, and proactive, CPR/First Aid certification a plus, friendly, mature, and calm demeanor.
Set yourself apart: If you’re a natural helper who thrives on variety, organization, and fostering positive family routines, this role is for you. Experience in family assistance, education, or household management will make you a strong candidate.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 2:30 p.m.–6:30/7:00 p.m. Alternating family and household-focused weeks. Occasional extended hours with advance notice when the parent travels for work.
