Afterschool Nanny for 5 and 3-year-olds

Edina, MN
Part Time
Student (College)
A bit about us:
We are a warm, fun-loving family with a 5-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter who are truly the best of friends. We love watching them grow and seeing their personalities shine. Both Mom and Dad work in the hospital caring for patients, and at home we are just as dedicated to caring for our children. Our family enjoys the outdoors, being active, and getting creative with crafts. On weekends, you’ll often find us on the floor playing games, building forts, or exploring whatever sparks the kids’ interest in the moment. They especially love building with clay or Legos, playing hide-and-seek, and having one-on-one time. We also enjoy going to the park, taking hikes, and collecting sticks and stones along the way. Screen time is rare for us, as we prefer to spend time together, including FaceTiming with our family around the world. We’d describe ourselves as easygoing and are looking for someone who shares our joy in being present with children and creating fun, meaningful moments with them.
A bit about you:
We are looking for a caregiver who is flexible, creative, and warm. Someone who can engage with our children in fun, meaningful ways while also helping keep the household running smoothly. Our kids are very active, so we’d love someone who can keep up with their energy, join them in outdoor play (even in the winter!), and encourage their curiosity. At the same time, we value a caregiver who is even-keeled, patient, and able to create a calm, positive environment. Ideally, you’ll also be comfortable balancing your time, like preparing dinner while the kids are busy, and helping tidy up at the end of the day.

Job Duties:
The typical day begins at either 3:00 p.m. or 3:45 p.m., depending on your availability. At 3:00 p.m., responsibilities start with picking up the 3-year-old from daycare and then being home to greet the 5-year-old as they arrive off the bus at 3:45 p.m. Alternatively, the day may begin with bus pick-up followed by daycare pick-up. Once home, the focus is on engaging with the children through play, ideally spending time outdoors as they love being active outside. Additional responsibilities include cleaning out and preparing lunch boxes for the next day, and preparing dinner for the children before a parent arrives home around 6:00 p.m. Occasionally, care may be needed beyond 6:00 p.m., which will always be arranged in advance. Driving is required, and the nanny must use their own vehicle.
